The pursuit of youthful and revitalised skin has fueled the growth of non-surgical aesthetic treatments around the world. Never before have we been blessed with so many choices to slow the ageing process and possibly even turn back time (at least the appearance of it). I’ve been fortunate this year to try several treatments at Beverly Wilshire Clinic PJ back-to-back, enabling me to make a comparison between some of the most popular injectables on the market – namely, Revok50, Linerase, and Sculptra – in addition to a customised Youth Restoration Programme.

Dr. Wong Chee Hin brings over two decades of experience to the clinic and is one of the pioneering aesthetic doctors in Malaysia. He specialises in non-invasive facial rejuvenation and face-lifting techniques, including fillers, Botox, thread lifts, and laser cosmetology. I appreciate his caring and friendly personality, along with his honesty. I’m here for an expert opinion, and I want to know what he thinks, which he delivers in a kind yet straightforward manner.
Every visit begins with a thorough consultation, analysing my current skin condition, determining results from previous procedures and realistically combining my expectations with what it currently possible with a mix of technology and science.
As I’ve graduated pass the 50 mark, I’m more cautious with products that could affect the shape of my face like Botox and fillers. Just the right amount can be magic, but too much… well, you’ve seen the celebrity photos of puffy lips, frozen foreheads and bulging cheeks that don’t blend with the rest of the face and skin. As such, besides small doses of toxins and fillers, I’m seeking alternatives that will help to stimulate my own collagen production and hopefully assist in slowing down the appearance of time on my face.
Dr Wong recommends taking a look at skin boosters and biostimulators as a way to increase hydration, improve elasticity and stimulate my own collagen production. The effects are subtle but noticeable, creating a glow and improved skin condition over time.

Revok50, Linerase, and Sculptra are popular treatments to rejuvenate the skin. Each has its unique characteristics, benefits, and procedure, and I am luckiest girl in the world to be able to try all three!
Revok50: High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid & Amino Acid Skin Rejuvenation
The first treatment I tried at Beverly Wilshire Clinic PJ was Revok50, a latest-generation skin booster composed of high-molecular-weight non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid and collagen precursor amino acids. It helps revitalise, regenerate, and remodel the skin. D. Wong recommends it to treat aging skin, increase skin elasticity and firmness, enhance hydration, and generally improve texture and tone.
My face was given a good cleanse and topical numbing cream applied and left to work for about 20 minutes before the procedure. The routine involved 20 point injections of Revoke50 into the targeted areas using a fine needle. The procedure was relatively quick. Dr Wong was done in less than 20 minutes, and I felt more discomfort than actual pain. Also, Dr Wong is a master injector – I didn’t even get one tiny bruise (and I bruise easily, even with Botox, so that’s pretty impressive!). The results are said to be gradual, but I noticed improved skin hydration and texture within a few days.
While I only had one session, typically 3-4 sessions, spaced 2-4 weeks apart, is recommended for optimal results.
Linerase: Collagen Biostimulator
A month later, I returned for Linerase, a collagen biostimulator that uses type I equine collagen. It’s chosen for its high purity and ability to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. It works by activating fibroblasts, the cells responsible for collagen synthesis. Dr Wong recommends Linerase to address skin laxity, loss of firmness, wrinkles and fine lines, and overall skin rejuvenation. It is suitable for the face, neck, décolletage, and hands. That’s awesome because so many treatments tend to focus solely on the face. However, if you don’t treat nearby areas at the same time, the contrast in appearance can be dramatic.
Once more, my skin was thoroughly cleansed and numbing cream applied. I cherish the 15 minutes nap I get to take while waiting for the cream to work (nurses, please dim the lights and close the door!). Linerase is delivered with multiple micro-injections into the dermis using a fine needle, spaced evenly across the face. Again, the procedure was pretty fast and complete, including a few shots in the neck, in less than 30 minutes. As with Revok50, pain was more of a mild discomfort than suffering. Results become visible over several weeks as collagen production increases. As with the former treatment, series of 2-4 treatments, spaced 2-3 weeks apart, is recommended for optimal results.
Sculptra: Poly-L-lactic Acid (PLLA) Collagen Stimulator
My third treatment at Beverly Wilshire Clinic PJ was the FDA-approved, non-surgical injectable, Sculptra. It contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), to rebuild collagen deep within the skin. Unlike traditional fillers, Sculptra works gradually, providing subtle, natural-looking improvements over the course of a few months. Reports say effects can last up to two years, and that it’s suitable for various areas of the face, including temples, cheeks, and jawline.
As you by now know, every treatment at Beverly Wilshire Clinic PJ begins with a thorough consultation, cleansing and numbing cream. Besides the topical cream, Lidocaine in the injectable also reduces pain during the procedure. Still, there was more discomfort than the previous two treatments, as Sculptra is spread around with a cannula. It left me with several large bruises under my cheekbones that lasted just over a week. However, if you’re not susceptible to bruising, you might continue with public activities immediately following the injections. Post-care involves a five-minute facial massage five times a day for five days to smooth out the product and reduce the likelihood of nodules. This can feel a little tender in the initial days but eases with time.
Three sessions are initially recommended for maximum benefit, followed by yearly maintenance. As I’ve only had one session, and it takes one to six months for noticeable results, I cannot yet attest to the effectiveness of the product, but I trust the team at Beverly Wilshire Clinic PJ and hope to enjoy some youthful improvements in the months to come.
Youth Restoration Programme
Have you ever walked into an aesthetic clinic and thought, “I want to try everything!?” Well, you can’t quite do that in one session, but with the Youth Restoration Program at Beverly Wilshire Clinic PJ, you can give it a good start. Not one, but three machines – Fotona Laser, Cryocell and Lutronic red light – were used in my individualised program, and there was a chemical peel, too!
Beginning with a mild peel not only removed dead skin cells that made my skin look dull, but prepped it, better enabling the skin to soak up the benefits of the following treatments.
Next, Dr Wong used the Fotona laser with Er: YAG and Nd: YAG wavelengths to target different layers of the skin. He used it to even out light discolouration and smooth fine lines. As you’ve guessed by now, my skin was cleansed, and numbing cream applied before the procedure. There was no pain, just a light, warm prickle as it was passed several times over my entire face. It took less than 10 minutes but by the end my skin felt hot and tight. This was instantly relieved with an icy-cold towel pressed over my face – something so simple, never felt so good.
The Cryocell followed, providing even more heavenly coolness counteracting the hot laser after-flush. Controlled cold temperatures combined with electrical pulses enhance the delivery of topical solutions into the deeper layers of the skin. The process temporarily alters cell membrane permeability, creating pathways to improve the absorption of ingredients. In this case, Calecim Professional Serum. Formulated with stem cell conditioned media derived from umbilical cord lining, it’s designed to support skin regeneration and rejuvenation, containing a high concentration of growth factors, peptides, and proteins that help to improve skin firmness, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promote overall skin health. It’s ideal post-aesthetic procedures, such as laser, as it accelerates recovery, soothes the skin, and enhances treatment outcomes by stimulating the skin’s natural healing processes.
And topping it all off, I spent ten minutes under the Lutronic, which delivers wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular activity. The LED technology sends red and near-infrared light, which are absorbed by chromophores in the skin. Not only was it a relaxing finale to the Youth Restoration Program, but reports say it contributes to increased collagen and elastin production, improved blood circulation, and reduced inflammation.
With this one, I did see immediate effects. The following morning, I awoke to glowing skin. I looked refreshed, as if I’d spent a week in the countryside in spring weather soaking up the benefits of plants, oxygen, sound sleep and no stress.
