L’Estetica Facial Bar
Monica Tindall
As you probably inferred from their name, L’Estetica Facial Bar specializes in facials. Using the latest in technology and premium products they offer a range of treatments targeted to suit individual skin’s needs. Building on the foundation of beautiful skin, a collection of lash, brow and body therapies support the facial menu.
Located in the set of shops surrounding Dorsett Hartamas, the centre offers privacy and plenty of parking. If you take a Grab, the entrance is outdoors just after the hotel lobby. Look for the black sign and floor-to-ceiling windows on the right-hand side. Just opened this year, the aesthetic salon has a welcoming appearance with shiny new furniture and equipment.
L’Estetica Facial Bar
The greeting gives a sneak peek into the lush experience ahead. A choice of coffee, herbal tea or a glass of wine, ensures that whatever your mood, the path forward is set on a positive route. A questionnaire helps to personalize your menu along with a consultation with the therapist. I’m here for a good freshen up and opt for a facial, lash and brow treatments, and a wonderful new (for me) technology, pressotherapy.
Treatment Rooms
All treatment rooms at L’Estetica Facial Bar are individual and private. Decked in neutral tones with a circular feature mirror, the style is simple and effective. The treatment bed is large, a good size for my tall western frame. A shell chandelier not only filters the light but makes a soft tintinnabulation as the air-con gently moves the chimes. It reminds me of the sea. That paired with the low hum of contemporary electronic relaxation music makes for a pleasurable atmosphere.
Facial
Designed to target sluggish, stressed or acne-affected skin, the Oxygen Trio Facial (RM 250, 45 minutes) was the perfect session following my first week back to full-time work on-site. It would be an understatement to stay I’ve been a little high-strung this past week attempting to adapt to and administer new SOPs post-pandemic. A return to wearing make-up, the need to wear a face mask for hours on end and a sudden lack of sleep show clearly on my skin.
A three-step system activates, detoxifies and oxygenates the skin. My therapist Hanna has excellent technique and I drift off into slumber shortly after she has begun. After the session, my skin feels packed with moisture. Hanna recommends leaving the product on my face for 12 hours to get maximum benefit. When I awake the next day, the moisturizing effect continues and my make-up goes on smoothly.
LED Light Therapy
Every facial includes 15 minutes of LED Light Therapy or you could book a 45-minute slot for RM150. This works in conjunction with my facial as it stimulates a natural cellular response leading to skin rejuvenation. Using low-level light therapy, a mask sits over the face (pictured below) and delivers the wavelengths in a completely pain-free way.
Eyebrow Lamination
On top of the facials, L’Estetica Facial Bar also supplies several lash and brow treatments. I’m not the best candidate for eyebrow lamination as I only have half a brow (apparently my natural shape is sad and make-up artists plucked away and redrew them in my modelling years in my 20s leaving me today half-browed). If you do have a full brow, however, I see much potential in this treatment. You can see, even with my limited amount of hair, the effect the lamination has on taming the tangle.
The procedure for Eyebrow Lamination (RM 150, 60 minutes) shapes, nourishes, tints and, most importantly, lifts the hairs brushing them up in the same direction. If you’re used to applying brow makeup such as liner and gel, this completely eliminates the need for that for up to two months.
Lash Lift
A Lash Lift (RM150, 60 minutes) tasks a regular curl and tint up a notch by enriching the lashes with a keratin solution designed to strengthen the hairs. This is another excellent time-saver reducing the need to curl lashes or apply mascara when you just want a natural look. The procedure is very comfortable; another session spent with me mostly napping.
Pressotherapy
Lastly, I was excited to try Pressoptherapy (RM 200, 60 minutes), a type of lymphatic massage provided by an inflatable half-body suit. Basically, your legs from your feet up to and including your waist get zipped into the suit. It then systematically inflates putting pressure on each part before being released and repeated. The experience is snug and relaxing and there is a certain sense of security provided by the all-enveloping pressure. Originally used with athletes, it’s now part of both beauty and relaxation treatments. I can also imagine it to be beneficial for therapists working with anyone with sensory integration issues. For me, it simply enjoyed the additional level of pampering while having my facials.
