Zeta Bar, Hilton Kuala Lumpur Hotel
By Caning Jaramillo
Compared with the rest of South East Asia, Kuala Lumpur’s nightlife is not the in-your-face, here-I-am scene. It’s more of the seek-and-you-will-find kind. Regular live music has traditionally been found in an underground scene of artsy upcomers, a couple of flourishing jazz establishments, a few pubs with some acoustic gigs or, in hotels with touring Filipino bands. The last couple of years however has seen an increase in international performers livening up dance floors and providing some toe tapping tunes for an energetic night of entertainment. Zeta Bar at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur Hotel is one such establishment responsible for bringing in new acts regularly, adding vibrancy and vigor to KLites nightlife options.
Zeta Bar is located at level 5 of the Hilton Kuala Lumpur Hotel. Seating, in the form or bar stools, lounges and booths, is arced around the room drawing eyes centre stage. Huge red lanterns drop from above the bar, and candles flicker on tables seductively illuminating the space. The atmosphere combines a sensually romantic scene with a chic urban vibe. This groovy place could cater both to a romantic interlude or a group of friends ready to party the night away.
Zeta Bar is a popular venue amongst expats and locals, with a reputation in the city for holding more than a few surprises up its sleeve. Accommodating many celebrities at the hotel on their tours to Malaysia, many often appear in Zeta Bar for a little partying of their own. Recently, a good friend called stunned at seeing Jennifer Lopez take to the stage! On her latest Dance Again World Tour, she and her band held an impromptu jam session, delighting and surprising guests with their appearance.
