Only 20 minutes from the international airport, The Beach – All Suite Hotel makes a good stopping off point after a long international flight, or to end your stay before an early morning take off. Each 1 or 2 bedroom suite has a private balcony overlooking the Indian Ocean. Welcomed with a fresh king coconut in the lobby followed by a tropical fruit platter in our suite, we are certainly well refreshed from our trip.
Suites are simply furnished with a modern feel. Slatted screens shade the rooms from the afternoon sun, and both air conditioning and ceiling fans keep the air fully fresh. The bathroom is spacious and modern, echoing the simple design of the property, and the shower pressure is the strongest we’ve come across on this trip. A flat screen television is provided for those who do not want to lounge by the pleasant pool or take a walk along the beach. Residents may also work out in the small gym on the ground floor.
The Beach has a stunningly located rooftop restaurant, TheVu, with kitchens managed by an internationally experienced chef. TheVu serves tasty European, Thai influenced and Sri Lankan dishes from 5pm until late with splendid ocean views. All day dining is available downstairs from the restaurant with options to dine indoors or by the poolside. Sri Lankan and international dishes are also available through room service. We dined on the roof and were quite taken by the flavours of some of the dishes. Guests wishing to self cater will be pleased with the simple kitchen, including stove, microwave, and larger than usual hotel fridge.
Negombo is a small market town with colourful fish markets early in the day. The highlight of Saturday night is the local bazaar. A few independent eateries grace the sleepy street close to The Beach, but the main attractions are the evening sunset over the Indian Ocean on our last night in Sri Lanka, and the short hop to the airport in the morning.
Reasons to visit: close proximity to airport; stunning ocean and sunset views; spacious suites.

The “Beach A.S. Hotel” is quite impressive – I will not use those two “A” starting words
after all I don’t want a possible relapse – and have to return to that “Germ Factory”.
Very tranquil beach and depending on the location of your balcony you could get sunrise and sunset views over the Indian Ocean.
The sea is so calm looking that water or jet skiing for novices would be possible????
El Caning Cordobes would be in his element – far better and safer than traversing the shipping lines of the Malacca Straits!
El Colin Cordobes – “The Immortal” ( ahem, we mustn’t get too ‘cocky” eh?
PS: I noted “flying snakes” in “S.R” – Kirsten must be having fits! I know I would be.
Beach cricket on what looks like a “non-beach” like bowling pitch??
That’s pretty rare to see. Maybe it is matting on the beach????

It was a pretty, albeit speedy sunset. It was a convenient last stop before the airport and lovely to end by the sea.
Good view from the roof – interesting playing cricket, but then I would expect that.
it seems right for Sri Lanka! After all they won a test match against England while we were there.
What a dreamy and soothing place! Love your photos, Monica, and I really love the bathroom, that shower looks great!
One of the best showers we found on the trip, great pressure!
That first shot with the lone bird is postcard worthy! 😉
It certainly is, Monica caught it well!
Another lovely sunset shot and that seagull is truly an added bonus. Love it!!!
Spectacular sunsets all over Sri Lanka 🙂
Stunning 1st pic. Lovely view from the balcony and roof.
Agreed, we loved looking out to sea, you could barely tell where the sky started and the sea began
having breakfast on the balcony with that wide-open view of the peaceful waters sure seems enticing! 🙂
The views were certainly panoramic in this location.
Hello, looks like a great place for a quiet time away. The hotel is lovely and the sunset is gorgeous.
Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
We loved the sunset views here Eileen
I have to say I quite like this kinda of deco.
Simple yet comfortable.
It was simple, clean and functional. Perfect for an airport stop over.
Beautiful bathroom and stunning ocean views 😉
The views were indeed lovely
