Dust off your swimsuit and fire up your appetite because Hoi An just got a whole lot hotter. Unveiled in March 2024, NOX Beach Club has taken beachfront lounging to a new level. The multi-sensory experience encompasses four restaurants, two bars, a central pool and plentiful locations for reclining poolside in the beautifully manicured gardens.
Set along a pristine stretch of coastline and just a 15-minute escape from Hoi An’s enchanting ancient town, NOX Beach Club has the potential to be the next playground for the fun crowd. It provides laid-back relaxation by day, vibrant entertainment in the evenings, and delectable cuisine and cocktails throughout. Whether you crave an exclusive cabana retreat or a lively party scene, NOX Beach Club promises a merry day (or night) out.
NOX Beach Club Hoi An
NOX Beach Club is part of a much grander picture within the sprawling Hoiana Resort & Golf complex. It sits on a four-kilometre stretch of white sandy beach amidst incredibly lush landscaping. Cabanas, sun chairs and umbrellas dot the lawns and poolside, and the food and beverage outlets provide cooler air-conditioned seating.
Drinks Menu & Prices
All guests are served a mango or raspberry slushie as part of the greeting. It’s icy cold and perfect for taking the edge off the tropical heat. We follow the slushie with a chilled Young Coconut (VND 130), which is very wise in this warm weather.
Fully hydrated, we can take advantage of NOX Beach Club’s signature cocktails. Bar Supervisor Anh whips up some tropical bevvies, starting with the Shiso Margarita (VND 180). Shiso-infused Olmeca Reposado Tequila, orange liqueur, shiso cordial, calamansi and cucumber are shaken and poured over a giant ice cube in a rocks glass, rimmed with black salt and garnished with a shiso leaf. It’s incredibly refreshing with the tropical taste of tequila livened with orange and shiso. The black salt rim makes a lovely, savoury sip that has us licking our lips.
We can’t resist the name (or gangster rapping LL Cool J’s tune of a similar title) of K-NOX You Out! (VND 200), a tiki cocktail served in a green tiki cup. It’s a sweet refreshment with cacao-washed Olmeca Reposado Tequila, house-made guava cordial and beetroot shrub. A pandan leaf, slice of guava and edible fuchsia blooms garnish the top.
Sadly, the adorable Aussie 90s TV characters, Bananas in Pyjamas, are not present in the drink of the same name (VND 220). We’re not sad for too long though as the tall black tiki cup holds some tasty contents. Banana-infused Havana Club 3 Year Old rum, pineapple jam, calamansi, and chocolate bitters are shaken over ice and topped up with ginger beer. Aged rum, pineapple and ginger really are a perfect match.
The bar team makes infusions using modern techniques such as maceration and sous vide. They also pride themselves on using boutique spirits, including locally produced liquor, such as Sampan rum, which is distilled just next door. We can taste the care in every glass.
NOX Beach Club Food Menu & Prices
As mentioned earlier, there are four restaurants (Grill, Osteria, Seafood Shack, and Banh Mi & Noodles) and two bars (Beach Club Bar and Courtyard Bar) at NOX Beach Club. Most are open from 5:30 pm, but the Beach Club Bar kicks off daily at 2 pm. The Beach Club Bar menu is a little taste of all the four kitchens in NOX. They may fall under the title bar bites, but together, these snacks can make up a full meal. (For all prices, add 000 and ++ for the service charge and prevailing taxes.)
We begin with Tuna (VND 160), a ceviche made with pink tuna cubes marinated in leche de tigre, tiger’s milk. This is a traditional Peruvian recipe with corn and sweet potato. It’s fresh and an excellent warm-weather pick.
The Arancini (VND 80) served by the Beach Club Bar would make any Italian proud. The rice balls are crisp outside with a moist, melty, cheesy scamorza and sun-dried tomato middle. There’s a fabulous, rich, red tomato sauce for dipping.
The Pickled Beetroot & Pomelo Salad (VND 80) is a lovely vegetarian choice. It’s dressed in a creamy and tangy grapefruit dressing, with sliced almonds and rocket adding their own crunch.
A nod to local, the Traditional Bahn Mi (VND 130) is served as two miniatures—perfect for sharing or not. The crunchy baguette is packed with crispy roasted pork belly, pate, and pickles, which lighten the heaviness of the meat, providing balance and allowing us to repeatedly bite in until they’re all gone.
Lastly, Margherita Pizza (VND 110) is an easy plate to split with friends. However, it’s also just the right size to order with a salad and have a complete meal for one. The crust is golden, with a firm base and an aerated middle. Tomato, mozzarella, and basil prove that the simple things, when of high quality, are often the best.
Lastly, we take a scoop of Ice Cream (VND 60 per scoop) to cool off further. It is made in-house and is creamy and naturally flavoured.
Wine List
NOX Beach Club has several wines available by the glass, including bubbly, rosé, red, and white. I think rosé is well suited to the tropics and a wonderfully versatile pairing. Hence, the Gerard Bertrand Gris Blanc, Pays D’Oc, France (VND 230 glass) is my chosen quaffer. The grenache is very pale in the glass, offering freshness on the palate, a faint minerality, and a floral berry nose.
NOX Beach Club Review
While we didn’t have time to fully take advantage of all NOX Beach Club has to offer, such as DJs, ladies’ nights, Latin nights, fire shows, live bands, sports streaming and Saturday pool parties, we did get a good taste for their food, beverage and service and would be delighted to return for more. Only three months old, everything is in very good shape, making a vibrant and welcoming setting to relax or party. The pool is the temperature of bath water, making an inviting dip any time of day, and the landscaping is beautiful. Service is friendly, and the food and beverages are of excellent quality. We’d return in a heartbeat.
Reasons to visit NOX Beach Club: a fun alternative to the cultural sites of Hoi An; beautifully landscaped setting; excellent food and beverage; various entertainment in the evenings; fantastic daily happy hours – the Sundown Social from 5 – 7 pm gifting guests a generous 50% off all cocktails, beer, mocktails and pool snacks. Try the Shiso Margarita.
