Chambré Estate Margaret River

Gosh, we’ve stayed in some beautiful accommodation on this trip to Australia’s South West, and Chambré Estate continues to do the region proud. The self-contained cabins and suites offer travellers a nature-immersed retreat surrounded by world-class wineries, natural beauty, and exceptional gourmet experiences. Blending luxury, nature, and design, Chambré Estate is an excellent choice for visitors wanting the independence of cooking facilities and space with the convenience of a well-connected location.
Location
Chambré Estate is both secluded and conveniently connected to the area’s highlights. On three hectares of private land, accommodation is spread across the property with plenty of greenery in between and a dam on the back boundary. It’s framed by sprawling vineyards, eucalyptus forests, and rustic farmland, where every view tells a story of rural charm. Landscaped gardens blend with native bush, attracting an array of birds such as blue wrens and cockatoos. We explore winding paths through the gardens and relax under the shade of towering trees with a glass of wine.
A mere stroll across the road brings us to the iconic Stella Bella winery, where we sip on world-class wines amidst picturesque vineyards with no drink-driving worries. Being coffee enthusiasts, we also rejoice at the proximity of Yahava KoffeeWorks, which offers craft experiences and tastings. For nature lovers, the Darch Trail begins just outside Chambré Estate’s gate with scenic walks through the native bushland. Here, I come across a noisy flock of critically endangered black cockatoos enjoying the honkey nuts prevalent in the region.
Margaret River town is a few kilometres down the road, where boutique shops, galleries, and local markets showcase the area’s artisanal creativity. And, of course, Chambré Estate is perfectly positioned for day trips to renowned vineyards, craft breweries, farm-to-table restaurants, pristine beaches, caves and the famed rugged coastlines of the region.
King Suites & Cabins
King suites and cabins provide versatility for single travellers, couples, families or small groups. All come with a kitchenette or full kitchen, TV with Netflix, WiFi and various bedroom arrangements from suites to multiple-room cabins. Several rooms (Suites 1, 3, and 8) have wooden outdoor hot tubs that are wood-fired during the cooler months (generally April to October), and in the warmer months, due to fire restrictions, are converted into cold plunge tubs instead. Barbecues are also dotted around the grounds if you enjoy grilling in the great outdoors. We’re in a cabin called Malbec, with two bedrooms, a shared bathroom, a living area, a full kitchen and a patio.
Design embodies a modern minimalist aesthetic with clean lines and neutral tones, blending functionality and style. Furnishings include a light-coloured sofa with textured grey and white throw pillows, flanked by two wooden armchairs with light cushions, and a simple wooden coffee table. A large glass sliding door floods the room with natural light, highlighting polished flooring.
The dining area has a wooden table with black-framed chairs boasting woven seats and backs. The kitchen is sleek and compact with white cabinetry and integrated appliances like a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and range hood. Coffee, tea, milk, olive oil, salt and pepper are provided, and we’re welcomed with a fresh loaf of sourdough – nice touch.
A calm ambience pervades the bedrooms with a low-profile bed, adorned with a plaid throw and dark accent pillows. Light wood bedside tables add organic warmth. Natural light floods through a large window, complemented by minimalist track lighting. A subtle artwork graces the wall, and a soft rug underfoot enhances comfort.
The bathroom is a serene palette of greys and whites reflecting light and enhancing the space’s brightness, punctuated by striking black fixtures. A frameless glass screen promotes openness, and a light wood vanity topped with marble adds subtle warmth. The wall-mounted toilet and recessed lighting contribute to the uncluttered, sophisticated feel. We especially appreciate the large lit mirror.
Our days start and end with the serenity of nature at Chambré Estate, and in between, they’re filled with explorations of the local area. We’re happy here and could imagine staying much longer.
