Best Value for Money Meals in Kuala Lumpur

Best Value for Money Meals KL

It’s hard to get the perfect balance when it comes to weighing up the price point with the quality of food these days. It seems there are excellent meals to be had for just as ‘superb’ prices, but also equally cheap meals to be had for below-par ingredients. The Yum List has been busy hunting down restaurants where we feel you get a good quality meal for a fair price. Here are our top picks:

Nobu Omakase for Two

Following on from the success of the Buy-1-Free-1 Omakase, Nobu Kuala Lumpur has introduced their latest five-course menu with premium ingredients. At the almost-too-good-to-be-true price of RM398 for two people, the set can be enjoyed from the 8th of August until the 30th of September.

The Butcher’s Table

Prices, even in the food court, in Pavilion seem to be elevated above the rest of the city. Trying to capture the crowds also, there are a number of cheap lunch deals, which serve up equally cheap food. There is a standout, however, that provides high-quality recipes, made in house, for affordable prices: The Butcher’s Table. The incredible Tomapork pictured below could feed a family and Yum Listers will be particularly happy to know that wine is priced barely above what is found in the supermarket. There’s two for one coffee too (RM9 for two)!

Jann Bar

It’s almost unheard of today to find a craft cocktail for below RM40, yet at Jann Bar in Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, you can get two for that price! Five hours of happy, daily from 4 pm – 9 pm, make this attractive cocktail bar one of the most reasonably priced in the city.

Quan’s Kitchen

In the same hotel, Quan’s Kitchen offers equally good value only in solid form. Here you can find set dinners with a main, choice of sides and dessert for a tiny RM33.

Arteastry Hi-Tea

Afternoon tea at Element Kuala Lumpur has to be the most reasonably priced afternoon tea in KL. RM100 nett for TWO people, it includes cold savouries, hot savouries, sweets, tea, surprise artistic sugar-bomb table-side-plated finale (sorry gave away the surprise) and cityscape views from the 40th floor. Most afternoon teas in hotels around the city are a minimum of RM100 PER person and provide much less than what is served here.

Super Secret Social

Ten gourmet courses of beautifully crafted cuisine along with five glasses of different organic wines and an upbeat, fun setting for RM 250, this has to be the best-priced wine-paired degustation in the city.

  1. Those dishes are well presented. Sometimes it's hard to find a good cheaper meal that is presented like the more expensive ones….breakfast for us usually costs between AU40.00 to AU50.00…that's for toasted sandwiches, bacon & eggs with tea or coffee, as an example…don't go out every morning for breakfast.

I hope that it the cost for 2????
Certainly here in Brisbane that would be the dual cost at similar venues
as shown here in KL / Malaysia.

My travels to resorts in S.E.A / Pacific – Bali and Thailand, I always had the accommodation
added in with the airfares and breakfasts were always included. These at 5 star
establishments and breakfast on the beachfront was from 6.00 am – 11.30 am, also
the same in Honolulu, the Philippines, New Caledonia and Guam ( never go to the latter!!!! – ONCE WAS ENOUGH – ONCE TOO MANY!!!)
Thus breakfast – help yourself was enough till dinner.
Then depending on finances – splash out in style at the hotel's premier restaurant
or eat at one of the excellent local restaurants close by.
      Cheers

  2. Gotta take note of these places. Don't mind a bit expensive if the food is great but even better if it's value for money. That pork chop for only RM25 is a good deal – looks so good too!
