“One Simple Rule.” You’ve seen the headline on countless magazines, each alluding to promises of weight loss, a flat stomach, toned backside and so on. We all know the “one simple rule” isn’t really in the pages of a magazine or linked on a web ad. It’s in the way we eat. Every day.
Finding restaurants that can support this daily routine can sometimes be a challenge; however, The Daily Habit has a menu that is consistently fresh, healthy and most importantly – yummy! – which is why you’ve seen it here on The Yum List several times. We visited recently to sample the new Daily Specials Menu. Most specials are available three to five days a week, but rotate due to limited kitchen space.
Located inside Chi Fitness Centre at BRDB Tower connected to Bangsar Shopping Centre, the café is not obvious to those not looking for it – there’s no sign and it does not appear on the BSC directory. But the short sky-bridge on the same level as House & Co. will guide you easily to Chi Fitness Center, where the giant glass doors slide open for you, inviting you to walk past reception and eat your way to good health.
The Daily Habit’s juices are bliss for the mouth and great for the body. The Fountain of Youth is a fruity concoction boasting antioxidants and the Clean Red (RM18) yields a healthy dose of lycopene.  For a pre-workout boost or a healthy dessert option, be sure to try the Banana and Chocolate Whey Protein Shake (RM16). You wont’ be disappointed.

The Basil and Pine Nut Pesto Chicken (RM28) is deliciously moist and flavorful. I especially love, love, love the Caramelized Beetroot and Wheat Berry Salad that shared the plate. The sweet beetroot and raisins, the crunch of the crisp greens and nuttiness of the pumpkin seeds with the wheat berry are a winning combination for a hearty, healthy salad satisfying as a meal on its own.

The Pomegranate Glazed Chicken (RM28) is also a delight. The chicken is again moist, and the tiny pops of pomegranate add a hint of sweetness to the refreshing crunch of the cucumber. The red rice and roasted pumpkin are delicious complements.

For the vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diner (or anyone, really) the Country Style Pure Vegetable Soup is a fantastic alternative to a meat dish. This stew-like puree is extremely thick and filling, and goes marvelously with the fresh bread served on the side.

A balanced blend of spices and large chunks of lamb make the Lamb Tagine a very tasty and satisfying choice.

No need to work out to “feel the burn” – just sample the Chili Picadillo (RM28). The fresh and spicy corn salsa will set your taste buds ablaze and as the meaty chili hits your belly, you almost swear you can hear it saying “gracias”.

Especially appreciated are the substantial portion sizes of the meals here, a very good value for money! Generous servings of meat and quality grains (not just cheap “fillers”) nourish the body while filling the belly.

On the way out of the cafe, toting my takeaways of leftover Lamb Tagine, I spot homemade condiments beckoning to me at the counter. I took home a jar of the Vanilla Bean Pear Jam (which  was devoured in approximately three days on account of it being AWESOME! and edible by the naked spoonful) and the Tomato Relish which is equally good but needs a vehicle, like a veggie sandwich.
Besides the specials listed here, The Daily Habit offers several salad options, a breakfast menu and other light fare, including homemade yoghurt and very intriguing quinoa parfaits. To read about these varied options, CLICK HERE for Breakfasts and HERE for an overview.
