We had such a great time at Sunday lunch but a peek at the other menus showed that we’d only scratched the surface of what this new buzzy waterside restaurant has to offer. So we’re back to try a few breakfast items. There is a plethora of yummy sounding choices from Pancakes to croissant or Eggs Benedict, in fact so many that we’re very glad to hear a selection has already been made for us.
First up is a full English Breakfast, an order so large that it takes two people to carry all the accouterments. We enjoy the look of the happy plate that smiles up at us before forking in. Double egg with glistening vibrant yellow yolk, and hooray!… Back bacon; not streaky for a change! The mushrooms are served whole, firm and buttery dense, the slender pork sausages meaty and herby. Full English at Les Diables includes sausage, bacon, tomato, mushroom, baked beans and two eggs cooked to your liking, tea, coffee or hot chocolate and juice of your choice. As some dog-walking passersby comment, ‘that’s a real breakfast!’ A contender for best English Breakfast on Phuket? It’s a steal at THB 325.

A lighter option is Bagel (THB225) with cream cheese, which turn out to be a build your own bagel platter – love it! Lightly toasted buttered bagels are made in-house. Salmon is rather nice says Mon and I have to agree, I build my half of the bagel with cream cheese, dill and a squeeze of lemon. You can vary yours with caper, gherkin and onion. I love the way the cream cheese oozes into the toasty soft bagel, and the lemony herby salmon melts away. Simple and scrummy!

Healthy Choice (THB150) options are also offered at Les Diables, as our next vibrant dish demonstrates. Fresh kiwi, mango and pawpaw adorn plentiful homemade muesli, of rolled oats, walnuts, pecan, hazelnuts, pistachio, and a myriad of dried fruits.A little tinge of maple syrup is drizzled through for extra sweetness. We spoon ours up with fresh plain yoghurt but it also comes with milk.

French toast (THB195), moist and eggy, with a hint of cinnamon through the mix is lightly fried in butter, then served with a double whammy adornment of maple syrup and berry compote. We’re getting fuller and fuller but we soldier on, dipping the crispy edges in the moreish dark berry blend. It’s a sweeter dish that will please children and grown up kids alike, the berry compote gives a nice fruit acid tang in balance.

One of the great things about this marine side eatery is that you can order anything off the menu at any time of the day. So if you’re a breakfast fanatic, you can have your bacon and eggs for lunch or dinner too! It’s a must for anyone on a self-catering holiday or late risers who miss the hotel buffet!
Reasons to visit: All day breakfast, freshly made pastries, range of healthy options, waterside location.

  3. I can't decide what looks more delicious, the granola or the view!
