Room 10, Potts Point, Sydney, Australia

I would have overlooked Room 10, a little hole in the wall cafe down a nondescript alleyway in Potts Point, if it weren’t for my bon vivant girlfriend, Shaz.  She assured me we’d get a great brew here and she was right.  It just so happens, as we were enjoying our espresso and latte and browsing the Sydney Morning Herald, that the paper confirmed we were relishing a truly saporous coffee – Daniel the barista/manager pointed out that Room 10 had been awarded ‘two cups’ in the SMH.  Later, I went on to discover that Room 10 was voted ‘best new cafe’ in the Good Cafe Guide also published by SMH.  Offering both single origin beans and blends from the label Mecca I couldn’t help but purchase the Darkhorse combo sourced from Brazil, Colombia and Kenya to take home.  While we only had coffee that morning, I have it from a reliable source that the sandwiches are scrummy too.  Browsing the menu I will surely come back for breakfast the next time I’m in Sydney – I have my eye on the Farmer Jo’s green apple muesli and burnt fig granola. Mmmm….

Mecca coffee is one of my favorites.

  3. Sydney is the best place in the world for coffee! Australia in general I think makes good coffee. Even in Italy I didn't find as many great cafes as there are in Sydney and Melbourne catering to every taste and possibility. It's almost like Australians have mixed science and art with their brewing and beans.
