Monica Larrieu’s Favourite Gifts Shops in Kuala Lumpur

We asked our team of Yum List writers to share with us their personal lists of favourite spots to eat, drink, visit or shop in the city of Kuala Lumpur. Each week we’re featuring a different writer and revealing his or her top picks. Here are Monica Larrieu’s favourite gifts shops in Kuala Lumpur.

Edibee Sweets
Assortment of mochi from Edibee’s. I usually buy a large bag and package the contents in a gift box.

Karyaneka Kraft Shop
Nicely packaged batik sarongs and hand painted-batik scarves (available on silk as well as cotton) and woven clutches from the Karyaneka Kraft Shop at Kraf Kompleks in KLCC (Jalan Conlay).

Ambiance
Beautifully crafted Nyonya tiles from Ambiance (they can be collected as each tile is unique), as well as many other gorgeous trinkets, big and small.

Tropical Spice Garden Gift Shop
Just about anything from the Tropical Spice Garden Gift Shop in Batu Ferringhi (such as sharply packaged spices or cooking condiments unique to Malaysia and/or the region, as well as textiles). Lovely locally-sourced products! I always stock up from here when I go to Penang.

British India
For friends and family whose taste and sizing I know well, I can usually find unique tops from British India (especially when they have one of their crazy sales!). I find that the Great Eastern store carries more of a variety of clothing and home decor.

NOOX Designs
I recently found these adorable softs toys and items for children that won’t weigh down my luggage. Will definitely pick up NOOX items for my nieces and nephews.

Peter Hoe
And last but not least, I can always find something special for any personality at Peter Hoe, my go-to shop for more unique items and now located in The Row in KLCC.
