Joanna’s Five Favourite Midweek Dinners in KLCC

We asked our team of Yum List writers to share with us their personal lists of favourite spots to eat, drink, visit or shop in the city of Kuala Lumpur. Each week we’re featuring a different writer and revealing his or her top picks. Here are Joanna McCall’s favourite places for midweek dinners in KLCC.

I tend to eat out a lot in KL, so I’m always on the lookout for a reasonably priced dinner venue for a midweek treat. Luckily, living in KLCC there are a lots of great options within walking distance of my apartment. Here are a few of my favourites.

TAPAK Urban Street Dining

A superb mix of traditional local dishes and western favourites from Roti John to Spaghetti Bolognese. Lively atmosphere with local musicians providing entertainment under the backdrop of the Twin Towers.

Thai Authority, Suria KLCC Mall

In my opinion, this is one of the best options in Suria KLCC Mall if you’re looking for value for money. My favourite dishes are the Prawn Pad Thai and Chicken Thai Green Curry. Also, the rice comes in the shape of a heart – sweet!

Kyo Chon, Pavilion Mall

My personal favourite of all the Korean fried chicken establishments. They only use the freshest chicken in their dishes, which makes for a surprisingly healthy dining option. My go-to dish is the Sal Sal Chicken Rice Bowl.

Workers Union at The KL Journal

A versatile venue which I enjoy frequenting for all occasions – lunch, afternoon coffee, dinner and a happy hour beer. I love the decor, the outdoor area is filled with greenery and the indoor area has workspaces, a ping pong table, magazines and board games. What more could you want?

IPPUDO, Pavilion Mall

I adore ramen and this is one of the best I’ve tried (bearing in mind I’ve yet to visit Japan). They also do delicious little pork buns and other snacks. Great for when you’ve had a bit too much to drink the night before!
