Interview with EJU, Restaurant Manager, QUIVO Pavilion

What do you do and how did you get into the industry?
Me being in this industry is something I never thought of. I worked part time many years back while waiting for high school results. The fun and passion in delivering the needs of the customer in this industry kept me around until now.
What’s the best/ worst part of your job?
The best part is always the team and customers. I’m lucky to be in this industry. Most of my guests never treat me as their attendant or server, they are more like friends and family. I have stunning opportunities to meet and befriend a lot of people which I don’t think others would have a chance. I meet and have the opportunity to be at the service of, share personal opinions with, and moments of laughter with kings of a country, presidents, Hollywood and Bollywood stars, CEOs of multibillion dollar companies and successful entrepreneurs. Wonderful team mates who are supportive and more like family members are the best too. The worst part will always be when customers walk out of the restaurant unhappy.
What’s your personal favourite meal/ drink at QUIVO?
The Philly Style Wagyu Steak sandwich definitely: perfectly seared waygu beef stir fried with onions, peppers and mushrooms. I like to wash this down with our Fresh Appletini, a refreshing blend of vodka  infused with fresh apple juice.
What’s one of the craziest/scariest thing you’ve seen in your career?
This happened when I was working at a hotel in Malaysia. Three guys were enjoying their evening at the rooftop bar. Suddenly, a few ladies next to them started screaming and when we approached them they said one of the guys jumped down into the bay and the remaining two guys were standing, talking and laughing. The Rescue team arrived and divers searched for two hours to find the body. Three of them were betting with each other to see who is the “MAN” and yes they were extremely intoxicated and lost sense of judgement. The one that did not make it was a CEO from a very well-known company in the city. Yes indeed, it is true that alcohol kills.
The perfect day off would be…
… a day without phones, just me, family and friends.
The best day in the life of a restaurant manager is…
… when you manage to deliver all the needs of your guests and they step out of your place with a big smile and thank you.
What do you do for fun?
Cooking, reading and watching movies.
What’s something you’d like guests to know about QUIVO?
We are a fun and highly motivated team able to deliver inspirational and personalised service. Come by and say hi.
What’s in store for you in the upcoming months?
We’ll continue with our ‘Ever After Happy Hour’ from 4 to 8pm. Our signature cocktails are a must! Our in-house mixologist artfully crafts unique and creative cocktails infusing fruit. If you don’t drink, try our mocktails which are equally as original.

  1. Well that is interesting to know.
Don't drink and jump off high rise bars.
The survival chances are pretty remote!
Now the El Cordobes triplets would NEVER try that
stunt – we are very sensible indeed.
    Cheers
El Colin Cordobes, the middle one.
