New Year’s Goals for The Yum List, 2013

A new year, a new start and the perfect time to realign our actions with our values. In thinking about who we are and what we hold dear in life, The Yum List team puts pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and states their blogging goals for 2013…
Kristin will be on the hunt for family friendly restaurants and stays.
Polly is determined to track down the most delectable durian dessert.
Sam and James are looking for good value meals where your taste buds are wowed but your wallet is not.
Chef Peter is searching for the best eats in Thailand, from street food to five star, and will continue to tempt us back into the kitchen through Sunday’s with Chef Peter.
Elizabeth will be tracking down the coolest cafes and most chic spots to catch up with friends.

Kenny will be on the look out for responsible practices that lead us towards a more sustainable future.

Caning is in pursuit of the best coffee in Kuala Lumpur, smoothest whiskey, rare liquors and hoping to find more authentic Latin restaurants to bring closer the taste of home.
And, as always, I (Monica) have a list that is continually evolving. As of this moment (I know before I’m to tick one item off, another will be added) I will be on a quest to find:
* food that’s good both for the body, our environment and our global community
* quick getaways around Malaysia
* longer getaways in the region
* a sustainability rating system for restaurants
* best hotels for staycations – why spend money and time on transport when there are a host of hotels that make a pleasant getaway right at your doorstep?
* best of series – burgers, afternoon teas, ambience, pizza, vegetarian, fine dining, dim sum, wine paired meals…
* best spas in KL
*** Of special note… The Yum List will not review any restaurant that has shark’s fin on their menu (or any other endangered species) and will actively attempt to educate about more sustainable choices for the world in which we live.

If you have any leads related to our quests, we would love to hear them!

What would you like us to find in 2013? What do you recommend we check out this year?
