Spa Villa Signature Treatment, The Ultimate Spa Experience, Pangkor Laut, Malaysia

Staying in the Spa Villas of Pangkor Laut Resort, a visit to the Spa Village was almost an inherent understanding of our stay. Environed with lush gardens and the smell of paradise, the expansive facilities are cleverly built as one with nature, so although capacious, each space feels private and secluded. A number of connected but free-standing structures are draped with palms and vines and flourishing with flowers. Just being part of the setting slows your breathing, unclutters your mind and reduces your heart
rate.

Utilizing the diverse history of people and cultures in Malaysia, a comprehensive range of programs has been developed encompassing the key concepts of Rejuvenation and Longevity; Relaxation and Stress Reduction; Detoxification and; Romance. Chinese, Ayurvedic and Malay specialists are available too for consultation enabling a comprehensive approach to well-being
and a full experience of the health rituals of the region.

Usually, my primary goal on a spa visit is to relax and de-stress – something I find hard to do on my own. Reading through the packages the sound of a four hour Princess treatment sounded irresistibly seductive and hedonistic. The Royal Secrets of Puteri Lindungan Bulan is designed
specifically for the ladies and includes: a Bath House Experience; Urutan Gamelan (Malay Traditional Massage); Ikal Mayang (Hair Cream Bath); Boros (Facial and Body Scrub); Bersiram (Fragrant Milk Bath); Ukup Wangi (Scented Body Steaming) and; a Ubat Periuk (Herbal Tonic Drink).

The royal treatment began with a foot pounding, which capitalizes on the knowledge of Chinese foot reflexology and dates back to times when women’s feet were bound for beauty. A sarong wrapping came next and the extraordinary pleasure of the Bath House Ritual, representing bathing traditions from around Asia. A Malay circulating bath invigorated my body with cool waterfalls and steaming scented turrets. A Japanese bathhouse adventure followed where I exfoliated my skin with a ‘goshi-goshi’ cloth before allowing the waters of a hot stone Rotenburu pool to seep into my skin. A Shanghai scrub ensued ending the bathing regimen but only signifying the beginning of the journey. A calming cup of herbal tea transitioned me from
bath to private Spa Pavilion and I found myself well on the path to disconnection.

Equipped with outdoor rain and hand held shower, separate toilet and changing room, a tub big enough to be shared, treatment room with two beds and sitting area and, an outdoor balcony, the space felt as large as my KL apartment.

Expertly executed, a body scrub, massage, facial, hair treatment, floral bath and steam treatment spun me into gleeful oblivion. Continually hydrated with restorative teas, I slipped between semi-consciousness and blissful awareness at each variation in pace. With each rinse off, it seemed another worry washed down the drain.

Being a bit of an energetic nervous type there’s not much more relaxing that I can do than four hours. Still though, for those able to unwind for a longer period, timber villas with views to the sea, softened with mattresses and cushions, provided a further place to chill post-treatment.

Achieving the Herculean challenge of stopping my mind for a short period, I proclaim that the Spa Village at Pangkor Laut Resort, provides THE ultimate spa experience.

Reason to visit: Unique bath ritual, incredible facilities.
