The shop front in Seri Kembangan
Calamari in a salted egg batter – a new taste for me as the batter played a huge part in the texture and taste of the dish – thumbs up.
Macau style sweet succulent pork ribs – vanished very quickly 🙂
A spicy lamb curry – bearable but it did make our unaccustomed noses run
Kang Kong with fried prawns – if you haven’t yet learned to eat veges – these greens are a prime candidate for hooking you in.
Butter prawns – large and well… buttery 🙂
Fish head in salted fish sauce – another newbie for me but so bursting with flavour that fingers must be licked and bones must be sucked.
Fish head curry – their signature dish. Regulars say that this Chinese chef does it even better than the traditional Indian version… I’m not getting mixed up in that argument:-)
The poor critter that was beheaded…
Apparently if you own a Land Rover, Seri Kembangan is the place to have it serviced. And… if you’re going to make the trip out there you should take advantage of the endless Chinese food options in the area. We were privileged to have the owners of the workshop as our personal guides, and after some debate over which of their 40 ‘favourites’ topped the list, this fish head curry joint was were we ended up. Open every day from 10am – 10pm, Restoran Kari Kepala Ikan Sempalit might just be reason enough to keep your 4WD services up-to-date.
Reason to visit: Macau pork ribs, fish head curry, good variety of freshly prepared Chinese dishes, get your car serviced while enjoying lunch.

Calamari with salted egg yolk is my favourite! Goes so well with beer. 🙂
Oh yes, I can see that combo working very well. 🙂
what a feast! i love fish head … the bigger the better, the more gelatinous the eyes will be and glutinous the cheeks 😀
Fish head is still something quite new for me. I'm surprised I like it so much. The head, especially the eyes, usually frightens me away. I'm toughening up some. 🙂
Interesting place to check out; although I am never much for fish head or curry, LOL:p
Oh no, I don't want to see that photo of the poor fish which had its head chopped off to make way to the signature dish 🙁
I'm just learning to like fish head curry. I've been in Malaysia so long it's probably about time! 🙂
We just had some salted egg yolk calamari, so nice! 😀
This is another new dish for me. Can't believe after so many years Malaysia still has more interesting food to offer. 🙂
I realized that you like spicy food a lot! I don't think I can take as much spicy food as you.. hehhe
It's taken many years to slowly become accustomed. When I lived in Singapore our cook at work would add just a little bit more chili every week. I still don't think my taste buds though are quite as robust as a Malaysian. 🙂
Everything you had looks so good, I think I'll order exactly the same thing if I get to make a trip there. =D
Yep, I'd probably order much the same too. Possibly two helpings at the green veg to try to balance the rest out!
All those dishes can ruin my diet plan >.<
You're right – not good if you're on a diet!
macau style pork ribs look the best there! how good it is to have a whole good meal of seafood
