Bollero, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

With Bollero’s spacious breezy high ceilinged dining areas, oversized acrylic paintings, recycled timber finishings, soft world music and comfy cushioned chairs and benches, a soft ambience is created for a relaxing end to a sweaty day of sight seeing. Soft down lights, dim lanterns, flickering candles and focused picture lights accent the harmonious setting. The menu is a mix of Thai and local dishes with a few western dishes mizzled in. The daily specials are worth checking out.  Particularly yummy on the day we visited was the oregano chicken with spinach, tomatoes, julienned veges and creamy sliced potatoes. The Vietnamese fresh spring rolls filled with finely shredded carrots, lettuce, cashews and prawns were wonderfully complemented with two tangy sauces, and the mixed grill with beef, chicken and prawns pleased my carnivorous husband. Bollero is more reasonably priced in comparison with other restaurants of similar standard in Ubud and had better service and attention to detail. Appetizers are around 20 – 30k rp with mains in the vicinity of 40 – 70k rp. As is the case everywhere else in Bali, drinks are expensive, but for the most part Bollero has got it all together.
