Spa Hand and Feet Treatments, Lacquer Couture, Bangsar Shopping Centre

Run by the lovely Jessie Yap and her mum, Lacquer Couture in Bangsar Shopping Centre promises to use only quality nail and skin care products leaving customers feeling and looking great!
Located on the second floor of the popular shopping complex, the professional nail salon is tucked away in a little side strip amongst other premium beauty brands and services. The shop front sports floor-to-ceiling windows, which allow you to marvel at the vast collection of nail colours lining the walls. A giant L and C mark the entrance as door handles and, once ajar, guests are greeted with a pristinely clean reception.
Over 300 OPI nail colours (one of the largest collections in KL!) spoil the ladies for choice. Harmony Gelish, Jacqueline Burchell and Gelly Fit brands contributes another rainbow of hues for those who request a gel polish. There’s still more to dazzle the eyes with nail art samples having their own section of wall space. The only problem faced is, “How to choose?”

Just Part of the Range of Nail Colours
Besides the impressive ranges of colours, some swish skin products, by OPI and organic plant-based Greek brand Tact Beauty Care, are available as retail as well. Both lines are used in various treatments so you’re able to try them out before deciding to take some home for yourself.

The treatment room is separated by a string door curtain keeping the backroom with an open airy feel, while providing some privacy from passersby. Cushy cobalt armchairs are elevated in a row along the wall, separated by small tables holding magazine stacks and, a dedicated holder for your handbag. Soft music plays during our visit, but there are also a couple of flat-screen TVs that can be used for those desiring some visual stimulation.
We’ve chosen this nail spa as they are happy to treat men alongside the ladies. Although hubby is not a regular pedicure guy, he does enjoy a good foot rub and I appreciate the company of having him along. It makes for a great date when a couple can ‘spa’ together.
My feet are generally mistreated and overused. I’m an avid exerciser and have a serious case of the fidgets making it difficult for me to stay off my feet for too long. As a result, the heels and balls of my feet are exceptionally dry and, my cuticles are frequently in need of dedicated care. One look at my feet and Jessie recommends a Spa Manicure and Pedicure with an additional Footlogix Treatment.
There are six highly trained nail technicians at Lacquer Couture, so during off-peak periods it’s highly probable that guests will benefit from two therapists working on them at the same time. This is so in our case as we’re visiting on a Monday afternoon.

Shiny Polished Nails
My Spa Manicure (RM95) begins with a cuticle treatment and shaping of my nails. I often find it hard to communicate the ‘squoval’ shape I desire – straight-tish across the top and round on the sides – but Jessie understands me perfectly and my tips are quickly filed as requested. OPI’s natural sugar scrub is then used to exfoliate my hands and arms up to my elbows and is followed by a hand soak with minerals and brighteners. Anti-aging hand serum is applied and a relaxing arm massage with an SPF moisturizing butter eases tension. Lastly nail polish is applied and helped to dry with a portable nail polish dryer.

Footlogix

A cuticle treatment and shaping begin my Spa Pedicure (RM135) in a similar fashion as my manicure. A warm footbath with grapefruit and tea tree oil make a purifying start. A battery of scrubs, masks and Footlogix (RM50) treatments attack my dry cracked heels from all angles. After some hard labour on the part of my nail technician much of the excess dead skin is removed. A massage with a thick moisturizing cream is a heavenly finish. As was the case for the manicure, the application of colour is last.
Hubby, who is much gentler than I, does not possess rough damaged skin that requires the battery of treatments my sorry trotters needed, so takes on an Exfoliating Manicure (RM60) and Pedicure (RM70) with a Buffing Finish (RM20).

Happy Hubby

His session followed a similar beginning as did mine with cuticle treatment and shaping. Thereafter it continued with a TACT Beauty Care scrub and, buffing of the nails. Hubby was delighted with the finished product. He couldn’t believe how soft his skin felt and was too impressed with the shiny smoothness of the nails’ surface.

Our visit to Lacquer Couture has been a positive experience. We’re both pleased with the level of professionalism, hygiene and end results. The opportunity to spend some time together at the spa is much appreciated too. Thank you Jessie and team for a wonderful afternoon.
Reasons to visit: male and female treatments; extremely professional service; hygienic environment; biggest choice of nail colours I’ve seen in KL.
